Wow, as of yesterday, Grief Ally, has been out in the world for you all to access for 100 days.
100 DAYS of Grief Ally!!
It has been a whirlwind, to say the least. I am so very grateful for every message, review, comment, and person who has picked up a copy.
If you watched the trailer for Grief Ally, you’ll know that I never thought I would write a book like this. I didn’t want to be one of “those people” who shared their loss in a super public way but it became apparent, very very early in my grief, that we do not know how to support bereaved people in our culture. We ask people to reconcile their losses behind closed doors until they are ready to “be themselves again” and rejoin the world of forward motion as though we are unchanged by our grief and will live forever. That is not the world I want to live in.
That is not a world that I am able to live in.
So, here I am, trying to change the culture of grief support by sharing my story, perspective, and expertise. Does it feel uncomfortable at times? Hell yes, but then I remind myself that it’s uncomfortable because we’ve been conditioned to keep our grief quiet. I will not keep my grief quiet. I will not hide it. I believe grief that it is worthy of my time, and your attention. We can’t fix grief but we can work towards building a culture where we can hold it comfortably.
Thank you for being with me on this journey. Cheers to 100 more days of change for the better <3
